The City of Pforzheim commissioned vD-K to conduct research into the identity of the city in order to develop a holistic plan for its  future. using previously commissioned reports and qualitative information. Our office conducted a series of workshops with inhabitants from varying backgrounds over the duration of the study.

At the end of the two year period a book was produced for the City to use as a guideline for all future urban and architectural plans in the city. A new local paper and online platform was created, to encourage the continued involvement of inhabitants as a result of the guidelines. Pforzheim is now in the process of carrying out recommendations as part of their long-term development ambitions, including lining more city streets with trees, redirecting traffic (like with many other European centres, the motorway was built through the city centre in the 1960s) and making the city a more livable and walkable place.
